Rhode Island Hospital operates two outpatient dialysis centers, accredited by the Joint Commission and equipped with the most advanced technology, that offer adult and pediatric dialysis, as well as peritoneal dialysis.
Multidisciplinary teams that comprise physicians, social workers, dieticians, nurses and patient care technicians, provide clinical care with the patients' comfort and convenience in mind.

Medical Director
Medical director Douglas Shemin, MD is the interim director of the division of kidney diseases and hypertension at University Medicine, Rhode Island and The Miriam hospitals, and The Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University, where he is also an associate professor of medicine. In addition, Shemin is chairman of the board of directors of the End Stage Renal Disease Network of New England. His main clinical and research interests are end stage kidney failure and renal replacement therapy.
